TCF Tout Public (TP) has been devised by France Éducation international: it aims at assessing the proficiency in French, at a given time, of any non-French-speaking candidate aged 16 or over who needs to know and certify their command of French for academic, personal or occupational motives. The test-results will be mapped to one of the 6 levels of proficiency – A1 to C2 – defined in the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). The results to the TCF are valid for 2 years.

What kind of exams?

Obligatory exams: 

 

    Oral comprehension (29 questions): 25 min 

    Mastery of language structure (18 questions): 15 min 

   Written comprehension (29 questions): 45 min 

 

 

Additional exams (optional): 

 

    Written expression (3 exercises): 60 min 

    Oral expression (3 exercises and 2 min of preparation): 12 min

 

 

 

  Please note that registrations for the additional TCF Tout Public exam are strictly open to individuals who already have registered for the obligatory exams.
